RODARTE FOR TARGET

I think this is my favorite piece from the Rodarte for Target capsule collection. Maybe it’s because I have a weak spot for leopard print or mini dresses, but I’m desperately in love with this dress and want to wear it over and over again. I had heard some mixed reviews concerning the quality of the items, but let’s be honest here people. For 1/10th the price, you are getting exactly what you pay for. I think everything is playful, coquettish, and devilishly pretty. I also got the silk crepe dress in black and mustard–never have I felt so much like princess in my life!!! Will post those and other Rodarte items later on :) Obviously I’m smitten!

Ahhh, my favorite faux fur coat……how I love thee. People still don’t believe me when I tell them that I got it from Urban Behavior for like 60 bucks! Bwahaha. How is everyone doing? Did you get everything that you wanted for Christmas?  I certainly was very generous to myself this holiday season. First I cleaned out the Rodarte x Target collection online, then I got those kick ass Mendel boots from BCBG for 50% off.

BLACK WINGS

Ahhh it seems like forever since I went out to take pictures! As I mentioned in the last post, I’ve been stricken by the cold! I hate being sick: the nose-blowing, coughing, and general ooziness of the whole affair is the hugest waste of time. I haven’t been sick for about a year and a half and did not enjoy this at ALL. Eff you virus. Eff you.

SUPER FURRY

Hi guys, so sorry for not really being here lately. I first got a tickle in my throat last week and now it’s a full-blown cold. And to pre-empt anyone that may ask, no, it’s not H1N1 because I was vaccinated last month. I guess this is what I get for walking around with a misplaced sense of invincibility after getting those shots :( Hope everyone is well and 3 more days til Xmas!!! Thanks to my friend McGreggor again for sending this little treat to me in my mail today :)

I WANT TO BE A WONG KAR WAI VIXEN

One of the many things that I enjoy about meeting new and interesting people is the opportunity to  learn and experience new things that I otherwise would not on my own. I owe my dear friend Peter Le for introducing me to the brilliant Wong Kar Wai of In the Mood For Love fame. His films have become iconic for their seeringly sexy cinematography and dream like quality–not to mention the INCREDIBLE and very covetable style of its leading ladies. I cannot begin to tell you how inspired I am when I watch his movies. I’m just sorta in-awe by how beautiful everything is!

SNUFFALUFFA-WHA???!!!

Ok, I really couldn’t resist, but doesn’t this mohair jacket totally look like what Snuffaluffagus would be made of? I gotta say, I always thought Snuff was the coolest muppet on Sesame street because <hello!> it’s a WOOLY MAMMOTH. Anyways, enough of this before I veer off onto a tangent, so random and useless that I may never come back. Other than the jacket being a really great shade of brown and hairy (I like textures remember) it’s also surprisingly warm! Isn’t it grand when you find something that pleasures both the eyes and the senses?

PERFECT MARRIAGE

Two of my favoritest things in the world also happen to carry the reputation of being the tackiest. Fringe, the often go-to texture for the country singing set has the ability to turn anything into honky-tonk when added in excess. Leopard which can be decidedly classic at times can also be warped and re-imagined into all sorts of wrong by the less discerning. What I’m trying to get at is that maybe in some strange way, when these two extremely garish things are mixed together, you get some weird, twisted perfect marriage, resulting in a child like this kick-ass jacket I got about 3 months ago.

KOKON TO ZAI TRIBAL DRESS

So sometimes when you wander aimlessly through website after website, you find a gem–a gem so bright and blinding that you flip the shit out and thank whatever shopping gods are out there. This is EXACTLY how I felt when I found this Kokon to Zai (KTZ) dress on ShopFatal. It’s everything that I want in a dress: structured, printed, and one-of-a-kind. I may sound like a newb here, but I only recently discovered KTZ while browsing through the designer pages of ASOS.  The design trio have a huge cult following in the UK and have been written up by numerous fashion bloggers including one of my faves, Susie Bubble.

COTTON CANDY

I got this cropped H&M sweater a little while ago and apparently chucked it into the closet because I only recently rediscovered it. This is a bad habit I may want to consider scrapping in the new year. That and downsizing my closet to articles that will take me from one season to another. I always have these ostentatious plans that supersede my will power and ability–when will I ever learn??

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST

Me: oh shit! They have H&M fur coats on sale for 50% off. Wallet: don’t fall for this–you have too many fur coats already! Me: But not in this pattern/color Wallet: stumped. Needless to say, my self-control is awful and I bought another piece of faux fur from H&M yesterday. Furs being the hot trend this fall/winter has not been good to me (accessibility through the roof). If you have seen my closet, you’ll understand: half of it is monopolized by fur coats/vests/scarves. I just cannot slap my hand hard enough. But I SWEAR! This is my last fur for…..now. But seriously, I got this jacket for $60 bucks!
