HALLOWE’EN PART I

Last night I went to my friend, Megan’s house for a pre-Hallowe’en bash. Everyone has a token friend that takes Halloween as seriously as all the other major holidays and Megan is that friend for me. Some notable costumes included a one-night-stand, a home-made cookie monster (who funnily enough turned out to be a beer monster), and an Amelia portraying another Amelia of Earhart fame. My bestie and I went as one of the most prolific duos in rock band history: Axl and Slash. I think it turned out beautifully. I’ve never felt more manly in my life–and you know what? I liked it.

So here is yet another wonderful piece that I got from NYC while I was there in December. This little number was bought in an awesome vintage store in the East Village. Let me reiterate: everyone in Manhattan has it sooo good! I was totally blown away by all the selection and the amount of good stuff that you could find. Hummmm…..I’m secretly counting down til I get to go back next year….

UNDER THE BRIDGE

Why do all my weekends feel so flyby nowadays? I think the solution to all my problems would be if I could somehow not need to sleep. And I love to sleep! So tragic. I think my issue of not having enough time to do stuff is only compounded by the fact that I’m a huge procrastinator. I seriously need someone kick my ass into gear. I think that’s what a life coach is. I wonder how much those cost…

STILL NOT OVER MESH

Ok, so I officially thought I was done with mesh, but when I checked out TEAMO’s website and saw the endless creative takes on the peek-a-boo esthetic, I kinda fell in love all over again. The bottom right hand lace dress kinda reminds me of something that Opening Ceremony did for their S/S 09 collection. Oh and I also fell in love with his hand drawn sketch tees–I think I’m going to buy the Kate Moss one–loooooove.

HOLESOME: VIDEO

So Peter had the bright idea to film me on my Nikon D90 while we shot out in Richmond a few weekends ago. I’m always fascinated by bloggers in motion. I think people should definitely do it more.  We only shot with sound for like a couple of minutes and the only audible snippet was Peter saying (rather laciviously) ‘that’s what SHE said….’ Boys. Why do they think they’re so funny? Music by Atlas Sound outta Atlanta, GA.

You can find the HD version on thehautepursuit channel–how fun!

99 PROBLEMS

…BUT THE BITCH AIN’T ONE! Ok, so I may have mentioned several posts ago, I got tickets to see Jay Z. I finally saw him with some friends on Friday night and let me tell you that man does NOT disappoint. I have to admit I haven’t always been the biggest fan of Jay, but when my friend told me that she got an extra floor ticket, I thought: Why not? When else am I going to see him THIS close?? The max capacity crowd was there to have fun–everyone had a drink in one hand and a blunt in the other. Song after song people were waving their diamonds high in the sky in appreciation of this man that seems larger than life and almost untouchable. He played all of his hits including some of my personal favorites off his new record Blueprint 3. I seriously almost lost my shit when he started to perform Onto The Next one–it’s nice to know that music can still make me squeal like a 10 year old girl.

THROUGH THE WIRE

So on a rather dreary Sunday, Tess and I met up in Kits and went to the local farmers market in her hood. In case you haven’t caught on yet, I’m pretty passionate about all things food. Making it and more importantly eating it is one of my favorite past times. Ergo, a market with all types of organic veggies, fruit and homemade food-to-go is a real indulgence.  I hope this trumps any misconceptions that I only take pleasure in shopping for clothes! Some high lights of the market included a trailer that served hot savory crepes that made the entire block smell like buttery heaven and an apple vendor that had varieties that left a strawberry or pineapple after taste in your mouth. Spectacular.

VAMPIRES, COWBOYS & GAGA

So I check my Etsy Finds newsletter every day seeking new and interesting things to sink my money into. I really love this vampire 3-finger ring because it’s baller and kinda morbid. The raven skull has all of these meanings in Native American culture, which fascinates me to no end. I’ve been craving for a pair of ankle cowboy boots since I started wanting to dress like a boy–wouldn’t those be awesome with a bodycon dress too? And I want these crazy bottle-cap sunglasses because they make me smile.

Speak of the devil….I just got my first Etsy newsletter of the day….

FAST TIMES AT KITS HIGH

So over the long weekend, my friend Tess and I got together for some Sbux and a quick shoot at the old high school. Most notable change: signs bolted all over the school saying that it was a ’smoke-free zone’. The smoke pit will never be the same…
