FLOWER GIRL DIY

So when I’m stressed out and frustrated, I make stuff. As some of you may have noticed on twitter, I’ve been trying to install the google friend connect and twitter plugins into my wordpress, but with little success. After peppering the twitter community with my umpteen posts about how I f*cking hate code, I decided I’d channel my energy elsewhere. I’ve wanted to make a floral headband for ages now. I think it’s so ethereal and pretty.  I was talking to Sophia from Phosphene Fashion about what DIY’s I had planned, and I started thinking: I should really start doing more of them! I’m one of those people that write all my wacky ideas down–that’s why I buy Moleskin books in bulk. Anyhoo, so yeah, more ‘real’ DIY’s coming your way.

CORNER OF MY EYE

As Dan and I get more adventurous together in our little outings, so are the places that we choose to shoot in. When I look at these pictures versus the ones that we take outside in full light, I almost want to say I like the ‘inside’ ones more. When you seek light in a dark and poorly lit space, you get imaginative. And the results are sometimes way prettier/trippier/grittier than something you’d ever get during the day.

HAUTE, BLOODY & STARVING

Last week Dan and I had the privilege to shoot two fellow Vancouver fashion bloggers Lily from BleedForFashion and Peter from TheStarvingStylist.  You know how the most brilliant ideas always come to you when you don’t have a pen and paper?? Well this is exactly what happened about 2 weeks ago when I was riding the bus back home from a rather exhaustive day of working. What I can only describe as a sleep-depraved epiphany, I got a vision. It entailed me, Lily, and Peter stomping around the epicenter of Vancouver in killer clothes and shoes (and yes, I was wearing gold pants in my vision). To see it all come together so beautifully just puts the biggest grin on my face. I love these two, and I can’t wait to share them with you!

Life has been rather hectic lately. I have been squirreled away in my room working on the new blog and not much else. For those of you who have undertaken this huge task before, doesn’t the whole process feel like getting sucked into a wormhole where everything is in code? However, the end (or rather the beginning) is near! The new blog is going to launch on Monday, January 25th and I can finally move onto fleshing out my online store. Dan and I are going to sleuth around a grocery store tomorrow to snap some pics, so expect something fun next week!  I hope you guys have a great weekend!

THE NEW! HAUTE PURSUIT

After a very good year of blabbing, musing, and putting pouty pictures of herself on my her blog, The Haute Pursuit has outgrown the modest confines of her 800 by something layout. In this case, size does matter and skinny is not the premium! With the expansion, which is still underway, comes very exciting new ventures including newly added ad space, easier navigation, an e-shop, and a comment box that doesn’t mysteriously eat up your messages!

As I mentioned on twitter over the weekend, Dan and I went to the West End to walk around and snap some pics. The weather has been nothing short of dreadful lately, and I’m starting to tire of having to chase mother nature. I’m thinking that I’ll start taking more pics inside on bright days and play around with some of my more outrageous outfit ideas!

STACKED

And here is one of the final pieces of Rodarte for Target that I got in December. I will admit that when I first received it, it appeared a little lack-luster in the packaging–dare I say?–almost boring <gasp!>. But after putting it on and inspecting the details of the cardigan, I realized that like the other pieces I purchased….it was a mini piece of art. The intricacy and delicacy of the fabric is amazing for the price–not to mention it has great layering possibilities! Because I wasn’t sure on color, I also have this in yellow; bwahaha!

LETS PLAY & PUT LIPSTICK ON

I had some spare time today to play around with my clothes and remembered that I just brought home my white blazer from the dry cleaners. It’s actually one of my favorite purchases of 2009 and wore it to death when I was in NYC (hence the need for a thorough clean). I’ve always loved the idea of bare skin under a low plunging crisp jacket paired with trousers. I mean yeah, I wouldn’t necessarily wear this out with friends, but it’s still a fun idea to entertain!

WRECKED

Dan and I went to Wreck beach today for some new scenery. I think it’s one of my favorite beaches because: 1. it’s the only nudie beach in Vancouver 2. You can get delicious vodka-spiked mini watermelons 3. it has crazy night time bon fire parties. Not to mention it probably has the clearest water and most mind blowingly beautiful scenery you can catch in Vancouver.

Just got home from playing rock band at my friend Tess’ birthday. Jesus, I’m turning 26 this year!!!! Where has all this time gone??? It’s funny how we all race to grow up when we’re kids, but when we’re here <as adults> we want the opposite. But unlike a lot of other people out there…I don’t want to go back to high school or even university. I’m happy where I am right now.
