99 PROBLEMS
…BUT THE BITCH AIN’T ONE! Ok, so I may have mentioned several posts ago, I got tickets to see Jay Z. I finally saw him with some friends on Friday night and let me tell you that man does NOT disappoint. I have to admit I haven’t always been the biggest fan of Jay, but when my friend told me that she got an extra floor ticket, I thought: Why not? When else am I going to see him THIS close?? The max capacity crowd was there to have fun–everyone had a drink in one hand and a blunt in the other. Song after song people were waving their diamonds high in the sky in appreciation of this man that seems larger than life and almost untouchable. He played all of his hits including some of my personal favorites off his new record Blueprint 3. I seriously almost lost my shit when he started to perform Onto The Next one–it’s nice to know that music can still make me squeal like a 10 year old girl.
I think what really blew me away was his appreciation for his fans. I have never gone to a concert to see someone who was as thankful and genuine as Jay Z. At one point near the end, right before his last encore, he looked out into the crowd and said: ‘OK, I’m going to take my shades off because I want to see you beautiful people’. And seriously section by section just picked people out and thanked them. He was funny, charismatic and charming as hell. ‘Follow your dreams people; if you have a dream run after it man and just do it’ He then ended the concert with Forever Young. I’m gonna remember this one for a while fo sho…….
BTW this is what I wore to the concert. I found out just a few hours before that Pharell from N.E.R.D was going to open the show. I think we would make beautiful babies together, don’t you? By the time I got there, he was well into his set and had already invited a bunch of hos onto his stage! Why do hos dress so badly? I mean I know I look slutty sometimes myself, but I think I skirt the pricey call girl category versus the less respectable I-have-a-serious-STD variety. And yes, in my head there is a difference. Ha!

Omg SO lucky!! I love Jay-Z! I’m so glad he’s still around! I’m really glad that you enjoyed his concert because it makes me love him even more ^_^ And I completely agree about the hoes haha! I’d like to call them STD infestations XD
Love the dress! It def pulls away from the neutral colors that you normally use. It looks so fantastic on you! You should def try some other colors out there, although don’t go for the bright ass neon shit. Sorry but that just annoys me to an extreme and it would sort of break up your personal style.

Yeah Jay is amazing live. I heard from so many people that went to P-fest last year that he was the best act of the night. And yeah, I wanted to wear something simple but ridiculous and i thought this dress was perfect. Super comfy too

Awesome! Where did you go see him? I had no idea he was coming to Vancouver. If you saw him here, haha.
Btw, I love your smile! And that’s a crazy dress

Hannah,
Haha…yeah upon closer inspection it looks like an upside down grin… :S
Yeah I saw him in Vancouver at GM place. I was in row 17…not quite close enough to touch him, but close enough!

Aren’t those shoes really uncomfortable? How do you wear them so often? I can only stand them for about an hour.

Ovay,
They are most comfortable pair of shoes in my closet right now! Other than my flat boots of course…..

Ah I know what you mean about how music video girls dress – awful! There is skimpy and then there is gross, and they haven’t really figured out the difference yet, lol! But so jealous you saw Jay Z, sounds like it was amazing!

Great concert outfit! Love the lame, esp in that tone of blue – very seductive! Sounds like you had fun at the concert, you lucky girl
Jay-Z is awesome, and oh my Pharell is HOT. He would’ve had a much better time if you were up on stage instead of those poorly dressed “look at me! look at me!” type skanks lol

Hey Nicole!
Yeah Jay Z was a BLAST! I’m starting slowly to get back onto the concert scene…haven’t really gone to see any shows in a long time…it’s a great excuse to dress up
Haha, YEAH! Pharell is hot! I shoulda pushed my way onto the stage and taken those skanks out. I had the right shoes on for sure.

Hey Ash,
I secretly have always wanted to style for a big rap video. I think some people have great stylists who really amalgamate hip hop culture with high fashion (like one of Ciara’s last videos where she was working in a junk yard??) but others try…and fail pretty horrifically. I actually don’t mind the video hos. I think it’s part of the cheese & excess. What can I say? I like cheese.

Ah it would be cool to direct a rap video, one with a huge budget like Jay Z! I actually really love “Run This Town”, and I can’t wait to check out the “Empire State of Mind” video.. but I guess neither of those are typical, hoochie-girl videos, lol! I’d love to see a Haute Pursuit directed vid!
