Nothing really says holiday more to me than a snowy wonderland – and no city does it better than New York. Last year during fashion week I was able to scurry away for a second to take a much needed walk around Central Park. Some times when I feel overwhelmed by work and/or life (in my case the two are inextricably connected) I go for strolls. Long, often aimless walks either by myself or someone close like Quan to steep in everything. The good, the bad, the unknown. It’s like a moving meditation. Looking back at these photos now, I’m just blown away by 1. how fast a year can really ‘fly by’ and 2. how much I’ve grown since last February. And of course, the one biggest emotion I feel is an overwhelming sense of gratitude for being able to do what I love, follow my destiny and call it my day job! So thank you, (yes you!)
A lot of you have sent me questions about how to style the coats – during the day, at night, and every time in between. This is one of my favorite day looks (period!) because it’s so easy, comfortable, and effortless. I can stick to my all blacks but have a big pop of furry color. I also like mixing the idea of something really luxe (like a fur coat) with something edgy (like motorcycle boots).
Now a more technical tip: because the coats are oversized I recommend making sure your proportions are balanced. If you’re wearing a billow-y dress, wear a tighter jacket; if you’re wearing this Olive Boxy Coat keep everything else simple (the coat does all the work!).
