FALL INTO THE CAPE

cape1

I’ve had a bunch of my Mom’s Holt Renfrew capes (circa early 90′s) for years now. They’ve just been hanging on my door waiting to be used…I think the last time I used this one was in first year when UBC hosted it’s annual ‘welcome’ party on Wreck beach (nude beach here in Vancouver). It’s perfect really. It’s like a luxurious snuggie (cape is made out of cashmere) that I can freely walk around the city in (and look relatively sane). I think being a smaller framed individual, layering can be your best friend, and I can’t believe I haven’t layered this more in previous years! I will admit: I was totally inspired to whip this out after trolling ASOS’s website for days and seeing nothing BUT capes!

cape3 cape2 cape4

So remember when I complained about the heat and the fact that I wanted to wear my fall clothes? Well guess what: someone was listening. The weather has turned almost overnight, very ‘Vancouver’. Dan and I had to hide under the bridge (apparently the go to place to shoot for us) bcause it was pouring like shit all day. Now I kinda miss summer. HAH! I’m such a brat.

Wearing vintage Holt Renfrew Cape; Urban Behavior blouse; Urban Outfitters hat; Alex Wang bag; Urban Outfitters leather pants; BCBG medel boots

P.S for you lovelies following me on twitter/thehautepursuit I DID not end up using my ASOS coupon because I heard a few too many horror stories about customs and packages getting stuck in limbo :(

Gorgeous cape my dear! Loving it oh so much and I hope to find one in that color or a nice heather gray.

I love the shirt you paired underneath too… the top half of your outfit is very classic…and the black leather pants give it some edge..especially w/ the boots… you look hot, per usual. :D

Let me tell you! OMG. I paid 14 bucks for express shipping to ASOS and they give you a timeframe for when your package should arrive. After a week I still didn’t have my package. It was supposed to be my bday dress =(. I gave them about three extra days then emailed them to tell them I would like a refund for the express shipping. They told me there was a delay with one of the Asos trucks. Then I google and see that everyone else is complaining about either not getting their package or it being delayed (some up to a month). Such a shame because I love the clothes.

Now onto this gorgeous cape. I’ve never owned a cape or thought of getting one but this looks so great on you. It’s drapes perfectly without being too overwhelming on you. Your mom obviously has a great sense of style. I really wish our weather would make the big transition to fall. It’s still scorching-leather-seats hot.

I’ve never had a problem with Asos but I’ve only ordered twice and I do live in the US. I’ve actually never had a problem with something being held or having to pay customs. My problems only come from things taking longer than I feel they should.

I’ve wanted a cape since last year and I could never find one I liked, that’s awesome that you have all your mom’s vintage goodies hanging around.

that cape looks so freaking cozy…i def. need one for fall :) i love how you paired the neutral with black- i adore soft colors paired with the edginess of black. you’re so lucky you have a stylish mom who kept all her goodies for you to raid; unfortunately my mother never did, but i kid not, my daughter will eventually want to borrow my clothing! although i’m sure at first it will be all like “Mom, what are you wearing? Ugh you’re embarrassing” fast forward ten years then I’ll be in style lol :D
ps. and I’m the exact same way- I want Fall to come so badly but once it does I’ll be swearing for summer again!
