This beautiful photoshoot was imagined and executed by my friend Quan from Geneticboi, who I can only describe as superhuman in the sense that he isn’t confined to this world. He’s like a big pulsating ball of creative energy that just sucks you in within 30 seconds of encounter. His world, is one dominated by beauty, textures, and philosophical musings. I can say that I have never met anyone like Quan before: his talent, his humanity and DRIVE to succeed in a world marked by one-hit-wonders and denial is completely humbling. Love you boo!
The story behind our shoot was loosely inspired by one of my favorite movies EVER: Wong Kar Wai’s In the Mood For Love. It is one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen—the cinematography perfectly capturing a complicated love story in 1960’s Hong Kong. It’s still, powerful, quiet and heart wrenching at times. One of my fave HK movie stars Maggie Cheung, who plays the heroine is the epitome of perfection, with her perfectly coiffed hair, porcelain skin and immaculate cheong sams.
