ONCE YOU GO BLACK

I don’t think I have worn lip gloss since….early high school? I hate the stuff: it’s goopy, shiny, and has that awful tendency to catch fly-away hair. So when I found myself purchasing my first tube in over ten years, I was a little torn but more so…a little excited to give it another go. The difference this time around: it’s BLACK like tar. When applied, it has this really cool, semi-transparent sheen that when layered over purples & reds give my lips a gothy look that is surprisingly wearable! I actually wore it gooped on like 4 times here, which later became a bad, bad idea as it’s rain storm season here in Vancouver. Heh.

Oooh! And look what I found in Urban Behavior–yes you heard right–UB! Going into that store gives me the same thrill that I get when I walk into a Salvation Army–you never know what you’re going to find. Case and point, this perfectly sheer, shifty blouse that can be layered, belted, worn open and styled however my heart desires.

This week has been a bit of a mixed bag. It was my blog anniversary/my 26th birthday, and also the same week my grandmother was rushed to the hospital in the middle of the night due to complications related to her battle with cancer. She’s ok, but definitely a little weak from the umpteen tests they ran on her. Cancer is a bitch and so is the therapy. I know the subject of mortality is heavy, but it’s kinda been the only thing on my mind lately. Never forget where you come from, who raised you, and why you should never take anything(or anyone) for granted. Let’s send some positive energy Grandma Hong’s way!
