UNDER THE BRIDGE
Why do all my weekends feel so flyby nowadays? I think the solution to all my problems would be if I could somehow not need to sleep. And I love to sleep! So tragic. I think my issue of not having enough time to do stuff is only compounded by the fact that I’m a huge procrastinator. I seriously need someone kick my ass into gear. I think that’s what a life coach is. I wonder how much those cost…
We took these pictures on Burrard St bridge on Saturday and it was fucking cold! I’ve been looking for a new winter coat at my thrift store haunts, but haven’t found anything. Is it just me or have all the second-hand stores in Vancouver become severely picked over? It sucks because everything is starting to be REALLY overpriced. Point and case: I went looking for a men’s tshirt to rip up for my Slash costume and everything at Value Village was 9 bucks or more for stained pieces of shit. I hear that the Value Village in Surrey is really good, but how the hell am I going to get out there??!!
I’ve been itching to do some DIY’s lately. I saw these puff balls at Dressews two weeks ago that I think can be worked into a mesh dress for a sort of peek-a-boo effect. Oh and I also bought like 5 yards of tan/nude/pinky fabric that’s still lying at the base of my bed. Thinking of making a long skirt outta it. I swear that’s going to be the next silhouette. All I need now is a pattern…and someone to thread my bobbin–I can’t remember how to do it!!!!
I got this top from LF in NY for 60% off. I didn’t even know what LF was until I got home and googled it out of curiosity. I really love the color and movement of the fringe. Every girl needs a little bit of flapper in her closet. And speaking of my closet, I’m itching to add a new bag to it. Someone I know is hawking her 3-times used Balenciaga Pompon for a reduced price. I’ve tried out the bag a few times and all times thought that it’d only look good with heels on. I don’t know why, but it just really DWARFED me. Much to think about. What do you guys think???
P.S. I just started to listen to a bunch of my RHCP CD’s again. Under the Bridge is one of my fave songs ever. Anthony Keidis wrote it during a really dark period in his life…just listen to the lyrics….but it sounds so beautiful.
Wearing peach fringe top, Kova&T liquid leggings, Zara nubby sweater, Zoe Sam Edelman boots, all jewelry is a mix of vintage, H&M and Forever 21

Hi Nini!
Thanks love. We took a different approach this time and shot everything in RAW. It really makes capturing a moment so much easier!

Irina,
Thanks love! You are highly skilled to draw those CC’s onto your own nails! I can barely paint my own nails as is!

Hi Anna!
I really love this set too…the arch of the bridge definitely elevates the light and everything just had this supremely heavenly glow to it..really couldn’t go wrong!

Hi, I’ve been following your blog for some time and you truly are an inspiration…I’ve been wondering for some time now, isn’t it a fashion faux pas to wear leggings as pants? I would like to know your opinion on the subject. Thank you!!! And I still adore your blog don’t worry

Hi Jade,
Mmmm, I was thinking that myself when I first put them on, but I wore this with my sweater for most of the day, which covered my butt. I generally say no to wearing tights as pants, but I put liquid leggings in a separate category :p Plus, you probably have noticed by now that I don’t necessarily adhere to any fashion rules when I dress…I tend to just put things on that I think look good. Rules are too constricting!

which thrift stores do you normally go to?

Sophia,
Mmm. I frequent the Value Villages, and a lot of ones that donate funds to charities. Really anything that captures my eye. I’m shitty with names, but I’ll start writing things down and maybe I’ll do a post on my second-hand haunts…oh and I also want to start checking out estate sales–I hear those are the bomb diggity :p

Marisa,
Yeah, I remember just walking in and thinking: ‘wow, this random store has a lot of stuff I like!!’ I’m not sure if there’s more than one in NY, but the one I went to was on 5th ave

Hi Vanessa,
I really like the boots you’ve got. How high are they? I’m already 5’7″ and feel like I’d just tower over everyone in those, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting them! =P

Hi Lily!
I’m one inch shorter than you and for me it’s fine. Sometimes I see my reflection and I’m standing next to someone shorter and I look ginormous, but I kinda enjoy that! The shoes are def higher than 4 inches…not sure how much though…maybe 4.5 inches? Maybe 5? Sorry I couldn’t be more help! I wear mine all the time. They are my go to shoes

absolutely gorgeous!!
And i know what you mean about overpriced thrifting. All the op-shops (thrift store in NZ) here are becoming more and more pricey! there are still the little ones ran by old grannies that are fabulous..but the bigger chain store ones (similar to value village) its like $30 a shirt…it was like$1.50 three years ago. so crazy! and because op shopping has become so ‘trendy’ there is only crap left.. bit of a rant.
and about the procrastinating..i hear ya…i should study for that exam i have tommorow…hmm xxx
