I often drop the term Uniform when describing my daily outfits- because really that’s what they are. Key pieces in my closet that have grown with me instead of me growing out of them. I was really inspired by a recent interview I read with designer Donna Karan, who described how her first collection came about. 7 basic ‘utility’ pieces (all in black) that stretched (figuratively and literally) from day to night, work to play. What a modern way to think about dressing (and this was Donna in the 90’s). For me, utility means comfort without compromise – so in this case a silk bomber with deep pockets & my Stuart Weitzman Alllegs boots (which yes ladies, are beyond comfortable).
